BLASTS FROM THE PAST

VENICE, WAS THE THEME FOR THIS ART IN BLOOM DISPLAY LOCATED IN THE LINK BETWEEN THE CHILDRENS THEATER AND THE MIA. THIS LOCATION GETS A LOT OF EXPOSURE AS IT IS THE ENTRANCE TO THE MUSEUM BUT IT CAN GET WARM DURING THE DAY AND  IT IS DIFFICULT TO MAINTAIN THE PLANT MATERIAL. THIS YEAR WE DID THE SPIRAL TOPARY OUT OF ROSES THAT COULD DRY IN PLACE. THE 'CANAL' WAS MADE OF HYDRANGA PLANTS

FRANCE WAS THE THEME FOR THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF ART IN BLOOM A COUPLE  YEARS AGO. WE DECIDED TO DO A COLLAGE OF ARRANGEMENTS ALL IN SILVER CONTAINERS ALL FIT TOGATHER TO APPEAR AS ONE  LARGE ARRANGEMENT.

AMERICA THE NEW VISION  FOR THE FUTURE OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT WAS THE THEME FOR THIS DISPLAY. WE WERE INSPIRED BY A CHILDS DRAWING  TELLING ABOUT SOLAR POWER.  THE LARGE CARTOON LIKE FLOWERS, NATURES SOLAR COLLECTORS,  BASK IN THE SUNSHINE.

CLOSE UP OF OUR SUN, FOXTAIL LILIES, CYMBIDIUM ORCHIDS , LILIES AND CRISPIDIA.

THE ASIAN ASTHETIC, WAS OUR INSPIRATION FOR THE KOI. THE SCALES ARE ANTHERIUM GROWN HERE IN MINNEAPOLIS.

CLOSE UP OF THE DISPLAY, THIS ARRANGEMENT HELD OUR CARDS. THE CONTAINERS TO THE LEFT REPRESENT THE POND BOTTOM.

CLOSE UP OF A KOI, THE HANGING AMERANTHUS WAS VERY EFFECTIVE ARROUND THE MOUTH.  THE MOUTH WAS MADE OF A PLASTIC POT AND THE EYES WERE GLASS BUBBLE BALLS PAINTED BLACK.

THE START OF THE KOI BACK AT THE SHOP, WERE MADE OF FLORAL FOAM. THE FINNISHED KOI WERE VERY HEAVY.
