ART IN BLOOM MINNEAPOLIS INSTITUTE OF ART

OUR INSPIRATION, THE IMAGE ON THE   ART I N BLOOM   POSTER

OUR PLAN.............TO MAKE A DRAMATICLY LARGE MILLE DE FLEUR INDPIRED ARRANGEMENT.WE CHOSE A PEDISTAL AND URN THAT WE USE AS A RENTAL ITEM IN OUR SHOP.  NEXT, THE FRAMEWORK IS SET UP, THE BASKETS  ARE  LINED WITH PLASTIC AND FITTED WITH  OASIS MAX LIFE FOAM TO ENSURE ADEQUATE WATER SUPPLY FOR THE 3 DAY EVENT.  CURLY WILLOW IS WIRED IN PLACE, AND CHICKEN WIRE ADDS MORE SECURITY TO THE MECHANICS.

WE START AT THE SHOP INSERTING THE THICK STEMMED FLOWERS FIRST. THE TOP BASKET WILL BE REMOVED  WHEN WE TRANSPORT IT TO THE MUSEUM.

WE CONTINUE TO ADD FLOWERS AND GREENS, WE WILL EVENTUALLY COVER THE TOP BASKET  WITH  FLORAL PRODUCT.

AT THE MUSEUM WE ASSEMBLE THE DISPLAY. THE LOW URN OF TULIPS FILL IN SOME OF THE SPACE BELOW THE SIGN STAND AND  THE 'ORBS' FRAME THE OTHER SIDE. TO CONNECT THE CONTAINER WITH THE ARRANGEMENT WE BRING A FEW STRANDS OF CURLY WILLOW AND PIN IT UNDER THE URN

ARTS AND FLOWERS DESIGN STUDIO PRESENTS,   " MILLE DE FLEUR',        OR     A THOUSAND FLOWERS....... BUT WHOS COUNTING!

OUR INTERN, AMELIA MAKES SURE EVERYTHING IS PERFECT

  3. Fantastic design -- thanks for a chance to see the "bones." The side pieces offered a nice balance to this ginormous arrangement. Very impressive.
